Even if you do not have a pond amphibians can benefit from your garden. They need a variety of habitats to forage, shelter and hibernate in - different heights of vegetation and piles of logs will attract plenty of insects for them; log or stone piles, an upturned plant pot with a hole for a door or even a gap under your shed all make good frog or toad 'houses'. Ponds will usually attract amphibians, if they are in the area, though toads usually migrate to their ancestral breeding ponds in the spring so may not spawn in garden ponds.
